Corrections policy
We write about rules that change often, and we will sometimes be wrong. When that happens we would like to know quickly and fix it visibly.
How to report an error
Email hello@joinsponsio.com with:
- The page address.
- The sentence or figure you believe is wrong.
- What you believe the correct position is, and ideally the GOV.UK page that
shows it.
You do not need to be certain. A message saying "this looks out of date" is useful on its own.
What we do with it
| Step | What happens | Target |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Acknowledge | We confirm we have received the report | 2 working days |
| 2. Verify | We re-open the primary source and check | 5 working days |
| 3. Fix or explain | We correct the page, or reply explaining why we think it is right | 5 working days |
| 4. Record | The page's last-reviewed date moves, and material corrections are noted on the page | With the fix |
How we mark corrections
- Material corrections — a figure, a rule, or anything that could change a
reader's decision — are noted at the foot of the article with the date and what changed.
- Minor corrections — typographical fixes, broken links, clearer wording —
are made silently, and the last-reviewed date is updated.
We do not quietly delete pages that were wrong. If a guide is withdrawn, the page says so and points to what replaced it.
What we cannot do
We cannot tell you what the rules mean for your own case, review your application, or comment on a decision UK Visas and Immigration has made. Those are matters for GOV.UK or an adviser registered with the Immigration Advice Authority. Requests of that kind will get a polite pointer to GOV.UK's adviser finder rather than an answer.
If something on this site harmed you
If you believe something we published was misleading and you want to escalate beyond us, complaints about misleading advertising can go to the Advertising Standards Authority, and complaints about how we handle personal data can go to the Information Commissioner's Office.
